Tell us a bit about you.
My name is Jerry M. I live between the SF Bay Area and the Sacramento Delta of California with my wife, son, two cats and a dog.
I've worked in the Silicon Valley as a microchip design consultant for the last 20 years.
Besides playing online games, what else do you like to do?
In my increasingly rare spare time, I'm a voracious reader of history, alternate history, and science fiction. I also like to hack and tinker with TiVo DVRs, and have my own unit setup with an extra large hard drive, web access, and other non-standard goodies.
How long have you been playing Call of Duty?
CoD WaW is my first CoD game and I've been playing for a little less than a year. My son has several of the CoD games on his XBox 360, and I tried to play it with him but just couldn't master those handheld controllers so I decided to get the PC version and try it out.
What brought you to X4Aftermath?
When I first started CoD, I quickly discovered that all servers are not created equal. I had a half-dozen favorites based mainly on the ping rate, type of game, and server rules. But playing anonymously with a bunch of random, often immature, players began to lose its appeal. I started looking for other servers again, and found X4A when looking for a FFA game. The first time I joined a game, the rankup startled me and I thought I'd found one of those cheat servers that let you artificially inflate your ranking. I immediately logged off. For some reason later, I tried it again and read the introductory comments more carefully and this time I stayed. I love to explore, and the great variety of maps on X4A had me hooked. Then I met some players, regulars and members, and was impressed by the respect and good natured attitude shown by everyone. I set up TeamSpeak, and that's when I knew this would be my favorite place to play. Everyone was here to have fun, and I was made to feel very welcome. I became a regular right away, and in a few weeks put my application in for membership. I was accepted in December and have never regretted it!
If you had to choose, what's the best thing about X4Aftermath?
The very best thing about X4A is its members!! I'm struck by how friendly and helpful they are to members and non-members alike. There aren't any big egos or hangups, and if one of us shows that we're only human occasionally, there aren't any grudges. Try that at your average server!
Any final comments you'd like to share?
These guys are fun! Bring your sense of humor when you come, because we all love to laugh.
